I remember you in so many different ways. I could never write them down.
So I'll send them to you in pieces.
like sunshine, filtered through
petals and overlapping leaves;
on the pavement
in cracks of hope and oddity
like the end of a good day
with perfect weather
just enough dark and dreary
to battle the overwhelming bright
like sitting alone wondering
who you really are
and what you could become
and loving whoever comes along
like maybe it is, then again
probably not, and do i really
then again maybe i don't:
adolescence at its finest
like stripes against khakis
and navy blue against dirty white
and everything on top of you
to hide the horror that's within
like your eyelashes fluttering
and your lips parted
and how you say you love me
in complete silence
like better than most and yet
still immensely inadequate
all the while amazing
nonetheless
this is what you look like
i hope it finds you well
day 17: look
